Gonneke I enjoyed your summary of Harry Torney's study on factors
associated with tooth decay. This question may be one for Kathy D. He
found a reduced intake of dairy products during pregnancy to be a
predisposing factor, but when doing his anthropological studies he found
very little tooth decay.
It is my understanding that the majority of the world's peoples don't
(didn't) consume milk products after they weaned (Asians, Aus aboriginals,
Amer Indian, etc), therefore pregnant women wouldn't be drinking milk.

I recommend to mothers who have any signs of dairy allergies (or their
partners) that they don't consume dairy during pregnancy or lactation to
help prevent or delay sensitisation of the baby. I wouldn't like to think
that I am setting their children up for tooth decay problems though.
I wonder how close he found this particular factor to be aligned to tooth
decay.
