Whatever the reasoning is for the oedema shouldn't it be treated the same
way we treat oedema from engorgement?  From my physio background, I find
getting aggressive with ice after feeds,(10 minutes on and 10 minutes off
until relief) or ice up to when we can breastfeed or pump and then heat
prior to breastfeeding or pumping to get milk flowing,  works best.
Contrast baths work well for peripheral oedema to improve circulation and
for breasts, alternating cold and hot works well too.   The oedema in the
breasts squeezes off the ductal flow of milk so it is essential that it is
reduced as quickly and as comfortably for the mother as possible,
