Hi all-
I just came back from a consultation and I am frustrated and concerned.

Primip - age 38, had moderate breast changes during pregnancy but no
colostrum leakage.
BTW - This is the mother with well controlled gestational
diabetes that I had asked about a few weeks ago when I saw her for a
pre-natal session. The baby was born on Friday at 9 PM, after a 4 hour
labor. There was some meconium staining and baby was suctioned, no
obvious aspiration. Apgar 9/9. Baby seems alert, with good tone, nice
suck, but I don't think he is getting anything at all. Birthweight was 8
lb, lost 1/2 pound before discharge-( was told in the hospital that
this is fine.)
Baby sucks a little, seems to swallow a few times and then falls asleep.
Only one bowel movement and two wet diapers since midnight.
We tried pumping
with a Classic for 5 minutes one each side and there was not a drop of
moisture. Both parents are extremely allergic. Baby is now receiving
Nutramigen 1- 2 ounces every two hours or so- they will be using SNS to
provide supplement at the breast, double pumping 10 minutes after each
feed at least 10x per 24 hours. Mother eats oatmeal daily, will add
fenugreek starting in the morning when the stores open. Anything else
that I can suggest?
