I agree that you will not know how it is until we are in that situation, but
again it's all an issue of planning/being realistic.  Again I use my dog
buying analogy, you don't run out and buy one without first asking someone
who already has a dog what it's like.  And you certainly don't expect a new
puppy to be house trained on day one, you give it time and everyone in the
house adjusts.  Many people even put extensive research into what breed they
want, and for those who get a dog from the Humane Society or other such
animal shelter, usually have to wait 24 hours before they can take home the
dog they have chosen.  All of this work for an animal that will be in our
lives maybe 20 years.  THAT is what I mean by most people put more thought
into getting a dog than into getting pregnant.  If we put this much thought
into half the things we did this world would be a much better place.

That being said, we aren't all going to agree, nor do we have to, that's why
variety is the spice of life.
