Certainly 8 months is quite young to be truly lactose intolerant BUT if the
baby had a severe GI insult baby could have a transitory decrease in lactase
while the cells that make the lactase recover.   I don't know Alimentum by
heart, is this a formula where the sugars are broken down (ie no lactose) or
is it a formula where the proteins are broken down to the amino acid level?

and then for some fool to throw up barriers to what his heart knows is best
for his baby...

So sorry you had to be subjected to such abuse.
