Bromocriptine used to be given routinely in the local hospital to women
postpartum who did not want to breastfeed "to dry them up" - until there
were 3 separate cases of women having either a CVA or other major
neurological event. The case studies were written up (forget the
reference, but the first author was Katz-M, and I think it was the last
part of the 1980s), and bromocriptine is no longer used for this purpose in
Israel.
Now, I am not a doctor, but in view of the above, I would see to it that
the woman was *informed* of this "side effect" of bromocriptine.
IMHO, that is.
