Hi, all:  Just read the May/95 Parenting Magazine story on breastfeeding,
which was overall positive and mostly accurate.  Jan Barger was quoted in
it, and excellent suggestions were made such as prenatal La Leche League
meetings and contacting ILCA re LC's.  The section on the benefits of
breastfeeding was good although as is usual, ignored women's health
benefits and environmental issues.  My question regards an issue brought
up by the author regarding her own experience, stating that when she had
problems with her baby, the lactation consultant recommended using a
bottle with a nipple more like mother's own to feed her expressed milk to
the baby.  A few reports have surfaced on Lactnet about the A-type,
Slow-flow nipple.  All I've been taught recommends alternative feeding
methods rather than a bottle.  So now I'm unclear as to the indication,
if any, for using a bottle.  Are there good data showing that this
special nipple actually is not associated with "nipple confusion" or is
this just good advertising?  I'll be interested to hear from LC's who
