There is more about the Colen study here,
http://researchnews.osu.edu/archive/sibbreast.htm

And the abstract is on PubMed at
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=Colen%2C+breastfeeding
from where you can link to the full-text pdf.

Trying to find the breastfeeding definitions, there's not a lot....
it says "Breastfeeding status (yes/no) was coded as 0 if the mother
did not breastfeed and 1 if she breastfed him/her for any length of
time. Breastfeeding duration (in weeks) was based on a question that
asked how many weeks old the child was when
the NLSY mother quit breastfeeding altogether" and "...the
independent variable is breastfeeding duration (in weeks) as opposed
to breastfeeding
status (yes/no).".... "prevalence of breastfeeding and our outcomes
are similar to those found in nationally representative surveys
conducted during the same time
period (Chase-Lansdale, Mott, Brooks-Gunn, & Phillips, 1991; Der et al., 2006).

My guess would be that these babies were almost certainly not
exclusively breastfed and - as we know - the degree of exclusivity
definitely does make a difference to health outcomes.

I curious if anyone has studied the article that is mentioned in this
post. The study between breastfed and non-breastfed siblings having
the same 'health' conditions.
I know that i have seen this study mentioned in a couple of sites
over the last couple of months. I read the study awhile ago but don't
remember it in clarity.
Did the study really seperate how long the 'breastfed' child
breastfed for and if it was exclusive breastmilk or partial breastmilk?
Also, when reading the study was there any other 'concers' or
'issues' that you noticed with it?
