Here's what I do not understand regarding the "don't breastfeed" mentalitly
- Prolactin produced during pregancy is what is believed to cause remission
of MS. During pregnancy, prolactin skyrockets, 10-20x the non-pregnancy
levels. Prolactin is maintained at or near the pregnancy levels, continuing
the relief from symptoms.

Why would you encourage a woman to not use this benefit of self-healing? If
prolactin increases the nerve repair, it seems that would be an excellent
reason to breastfeed!

Best wishes,

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question - I have a mom that is at the end of her pregnancy,
has MS and is not taking any meds right now. She is feeling very well with
her pregnancy. Her OB has told her that after delivery she has to go back
on Avonex, an interferon and IVIG.>>
