I have a mother expecting her 2nd child at the end of July. She has had a
pituitary adenoma and hyperprolactaemia for 5 years. The tumour is located
beside the optic nerve. She has been on bromocryptine then dostinex to
reduce the tumour with no effect. She has been off these medications in
order to fall pregnant and during the pregnancy. Mum developed gestational
diabetes during her first pregnancy 51/2 years ago and is now a
diet-controlled diabetic. She was unable to successfully breastfeed her
first baby due to difficulties with attachment-engorgement-mastitis-refusal
in the early weeks. She produced and is producing lots of colostrum due to
the hyperprolactaemia. She is very, very keen to breastfeed this time. She
has been advised she can only breastfeed for 3months in case it speeds the
growth of the tumour (possibly causing blindness). She would be very
grateful for any information and suggestions for managing her lactation this
time.

TIA
