I don't know much about the physiology of pumping and depression, but
pumping for twins and caring for three children under 1.5 years can
be overwhelming. Is she getting enough sleep, eating well? How much
help does she have at home right now? How old are the twins? My guess
is that the feelings of depression have less to do with pumping per
se and more to do with the situation as a whole. Why is she pumping
exclusively rather than nursing? In my experience, pumping is harder
than nursing. It's easier to cuddle a baby than a pump, easier to let
down to a baby than a pump.
