Interesting and sad story, Heather.   I would call that spiritual abuse. 
 A religious person would likely agree that God created babies, women,
breasts, and breast milk..... but then we shouldn't use it??????  
Doesn't make sense to me.  
Having broken away from a fundamental church in 1999 that had become
unhealthy and cultic, I have done much reading and counseling about
spiritual abuse. 
I still have some emotional energy around the topic.
