Good Evening Wise Ones
I am noticing more babies are born tongue sucking, and are almost impossible to latch at the breast unless a nipple shield is used after 24 hrs, not ideal as the babies don't open their mouths wide enough.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what causes this, is there any exercise that may help?
The other challenge that I encounter on the ward where I work is the Uterine Growth Restricted Neonates on the 5% centile or under, our policy includes supplementing with expressed breast milk if available and formula if not. Can anyone share what policy or practice that is used where they work. Is there any research they have come across that they are willing to share.
Sincerely
June Nicholls
