Wong's Nursing Care of Infants and Children Page 521 contains a table for formula requirements for infants 1-12 months.  Interestingly, the maximum volume listed (by age) is about 30 oz per day.   The implications of following the 2.5 oz/pound daily requirement include discouragement for a mom who is pumping for a larger baby who believes she should be pumping larger and larger amounts as her baby grows.
