Based on some private emails that have been exchanged by some of us Lactnetters in the past few days, we have decided to start a new list with a specific propose of improving and increasing positive Public Relations for breastfeeding.

It is called [log in to unmask] (Public relations for breastfeeding). It is a closed group, which means you can only join the discussion by becoming a member.

We are just in the beginning of discussions of how to do this. Anyone who is interested in joining may do so by going to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pr4bf/ and requesting approval for membership.

Here is the introduction to the group:
This is a group of volunteers who have a common interest in improving the variety, quantity, and quality of information available about breastfeeding and practices that support breastfeeding.

This group seeks to improve the health and wellness of children, women and society in general. Human wellness is achieved when the human body to allowed to perform as it was designed and evolved. Breastfeeding is one of the practices that enable normal human health. Other practices such as natural birth and co-sleeping support and enable breastfeeding, as well as supporting normal human health in and of themselves.

This group will coordinate efforts to bring breastfeeding information to public attention, that is currently not being provided by other organizations.

The group supports Informed Consent and Informed Decision Making. When individuals are provided with complete and accurate information, they are able to make the best decisions for their, and their families' health and wellness.

By joining this group, you register your support to all people in accessing their right to be provided with the information and support needed to make fully informed health choices, focusing on breastfeeding, and factors that effect breastfeeding.

We hope you will consider to make available your unique skills, talents, experience, connections, energy and time, AS YOU ARE ABLE, to assist in this effort.

This group is not affiliated with any other group.

Membership is by approval of moderator only.

Welcome to the group, and I am looking forward to your contributions to discussions and efforts.

Sincerely

Janice Reynolds
