I have now seen 3 women who had a drop in milk supply with the mirena IUD.
The two who had it removed pretty quickly (within a week or two) had their
supplies bounce back.  A third one tried for 3-4 weeks to get supply back up
while IUD was still in, and continued to struggle after it was removed.

If you read the package insert, it states that menstrual cycles can be
thrown off by it, so the circulating hormone levels have to be high enough
to affect that.  SO it would stand to reason it can also iterfere with
lactation.
