Permission to post. I have an interesting case. 3 week old baby was not
transferring any milk at breast and losing weight. He had a posterior tie
and was clipped by my favorite and only recommended oral surgeon. Transfer
started to happen pretty quickly and weight started for the first time in 3
weeks to come on this baby. He is now 8 weeks old and he won't eat without a
nipple shield. Before the clipping he wasn't able to transfer much with the
nipple shield and wouldn't latch on at all to her very short nipples without
shield. Currently, his weight is normal for his age. Mom is experiencing
ductal spasms during a feed with pointed nipples on one side only. This baby
also upon suck assessment still flicks as he did before the tongue tie. He
also cries all day long and is has some relief on reflux meds. This baby's
tongue is still pretty short...does not come pass the gum line and a receded
chin. Mom states she lives at the chiropractor as he gets adjustments pretty
often. There was alot of birth trauma. The good news he can transfer the
milk. The bad news is he is still can't nurse laying on his left side,
nipple pain and ductal pain and the constant crying. Also, mom pointed out
with this baby and I don't think it has anything to do with anything but you
see on the upper right side of his gums is white, and appears to be bone. It
isn't on the other side. They can be teeth but the white exposure is about a
1/2 inch long. Any thoughts or suggestions for the tongue flicking, sore
nipple and breast on right side and extreme fussiness or even the white on
the gums? Thank you so much!
