Hello,

I have a mother who, (permission to post) after the birth of her first
child, experienced weakness and "going pale" every time she tried to
breastfeed in the day following an uncomplicated, induced birth.

She felt well otherwise and was ready to go home as soon as they would
release her. She reported no health complications in the days following and
no ongoing health concerns.

Her doctor advised her not to breastfeed. She is due with her second child
any day and would like to try again.

Searching the archives I find a link between lowered blood pressure and the
release of oxytocin. Could this be her issue? Might it have been complicated
by the induction (about 16 hours)? What can I tell this mother if it occurs
again?

I would appreciate any thoughts on list or off

I am Heidi DiBacco, LLLeader of 9 years and new Breastfeeding coordinator
for Mahoning Co. WIC offices (Youngstown, Ohio)
