Do we actually have evidence of this?? I remember not too long ago on
Lactnet that N American members swore blind that Medela's Classic breastpump
was the only real hospital grade pump and that the Lactina was not
sufficient for relactation or for mums of premmies....since we never had the
Classic in Australia it was always a bit bemusing. I don't doubt that the
pump could be a problem for this mum but would suspect that the fact that it
is been very well used is the problem more than the type of pump. I've known
quite a few women who have used a PIS to relactate or induce lactation.

Even Medela states the PIS isn't the same as a hospital grade and is
not ideal for bringing in a milk supply! This mom is only 7 days pp.she
needs a hospital grade pump - not a 3 yr old overused pump that no one has
any idea of how well it actually is working.and she is only pumping 1 oz at
a time.sigh.

Why is this inaccurate information still out there? This inconsistent
information (that I apologized to the mom about) is one of the biggest
frustrations I have. Some things should be 'known' by now, shouldn't they?

Frustrated and worried about a mom, baby and supply this morning.and hoping
she will take my advice and get the hospital grade today.
