Subject: [LACTNET] epidural/intrathecal

Our bodies are not made of impermeable materials and we are not
static. I can't think of the English translation of the Greek saying
about how everything is in a state of flux, can only remember 'alt
flyter' in Norwegian, but it is right on.

**Hello Rachel,

It is 'Panta rhei', indeed literally meaning 'everything flows' and nothing
ever stays the same.
From here comes the saying: "You can never step into the same river twice",
as it will be different water you are getting into.
It is my favourite metaphor for life, childraising and breastfeeding, and
challenging, because of the great flexibility required and the picture of
constant change in all kinds of processes, asking for constant
reconsideration and the need to keep thinking, philosophizing, questioning,
pondering, wondering and talking to one another about what you experience
and the way it differs from yesterday.

Kind regards,

Marianne Vanderveen,
VBN-volunteer and preparing for the IBCLC-exam next year, Netherlands
