Not all children are 'take-alongers'.
Our first was, and it was so easy to go out because she could and would
sleep anywhere. We never thought about it, in fact.
Then, the second child was born. A very predictable sort, who had longer
intervals between meals from the first week, and who was out of sorts if not
in his own home, preferably with the whole family in the house, in the
evenings.

This trait persists to this day, though he can now stay overnight at other
places without crying for hours the first night away, and the first night
home. Thank goodness. He's 14, after all, and his sister has moved out.

Never at any time did I do anything to encourage him to wait to be
breastfed, I was within an arm's reach of him for the first 8 months, nearly
24/7. I may have gone to the grocery store alone a few times but they were
rare. And he still found this rhythm, and this dependence on routine. So
some of it must be constitutional, I think.
just my 30 ml,
