I am not familiar with the study that NOfia mentioned regarding
breastfeeding rates in Israel, but I would not be surprised
if lots of Israelis are breastfeedinga t 3 months. The question is
how many of those are still bfing at 4 or 5 months. Women
in Israel tend to get about a three month
maternity leave and will breastfeed for that long and then wean when
they go back to work. It also depends on who was being measured in
that study. Religious women tend to nurse longer (not all, of
course but many) and I imagine that arab women breastfeed for longer.
Who was being measured in the studies and how many from each group?
Did the numbers represent the populatin as a whole?
