This was brought up a few days ago. When I lived in Baltimore, I was
called up for jury duty several times. I always had a nursling of
various age at the time. I just wrote on the form that I had a nursing
baby (didn't specify age)and other young children, and sent it in, I
never had a problem,
(this was for Baltimore County,MD).I also wrote something like I would
be happy to serve in a few years, when I no longer had young kids.Maybe
this made the recipient of the form I returned feel more kindly toward
me.

I also was called to jury duty when I was a full-time college student in
Evanston, IL. I just wrote on the form that I was a FT student and never
heard about it again.
Maybe it depends on which jurisdiction you live and if the people who
decide these things in your locale happen to be jerks!
