Hi, all
I have used paper tape to get a nipple shield to stay put, especially
when working with a premie, or low tone baby. However, most of the time, I
have found that putting a little Lansinoh on the edges in a couple of places
will "stick" it down pretty well.
At the moment, we have a teensy little 2 lb premie whose mom has a
breast twice as big as he is, and a nipple.............well, what we have
here is "oroboobular disproportion".............a term I coined years ago
for one of the main reasons I use a shield. This little guy gloms onto that
shield, sucks that nipple to the end and guzzles like mad three times a day.
Without that shield there would be no feeding at the breast at all. So, I,
for one, have some pretty good things to say about nipple shields......and
so does this mom, who sits and smiles throughout the feeding/snuggling
sessions.
