Just something cute and interesting:
I have a 2 year old daughter who was breastfed until she weaned at 9
months and I am now 32 years old. She has seen alot of bottlefed babies
in her toddler years and has not seen alot of breastfeeding mothers.
Because I am a big advocate of breastfeeding I try to teach her about
breastfeeding on a child's level, such as holding the doll close to the
chest. When she refers to feeding her baby I tell her that babies only
drink milk. To no surprise she has tried to bf her dolls :)
I am currently an intern to be a Lactation Consultant so of course there
is alot of things in my house that are related to breastfeeding such as
books, and a calendar. I talk about breastfeeding on the phone and with
family, friends and other people. My daughter watches breastfeeding
mothers with great interest. Ever since she observed and was educated
about breastfeeding she will ask me to feed her, which she refers to
as "eating nipple," whenever she is near my chest at all. I tell her that
I can't because I don't have any more milk and it's all dried up. I
always laugh but wonder can I relactate?! :)
