gloria,

i am lucky enough to have a chiropractor who makes house calls. he
came on the day of elijah rayn's birth and adjusted him when he was 2
hours old. he had the most bizarrely shaped head i've ever seen. if
anyone r/m's 'Gumby', that was it. slanted and sloped to the left
side. he was wedged up under my ribs very tightly and it was only
after he was born and i felt the incredibly sharp ache there that i
realized that hard ball had been his head and not his bum. the ped
said it would take 2-3 mos for his head to get a normal shape again
and that his neck might seem floppy and weak. the chiro showed me
massaging techniques to use on him and he was holding and turning his
head in days and his head went from gumby to lightbulb shape (normal
for my babies, in other words) in just about 4 weeks. i've helped
several women w/ larger breech babies (c/secs) who had to deal with
torticullis for months and months after birth - we were very lucky.

~jacqui gruttadauria, bsw, near detroit, michigan,
whose 6.5 month old breechling still likes to be snuggled into his
swaddle body sock with his toes up around his chin and fights to keep
them there while falling asleep.
