Hi all,

Women has 18 mo daugther, nursing and planned to go on for a long time.
Daugther does sleep through the nigth, no family bed.
Mother was pregnant and miscarried at
10 weeks. She and her partner were very upset and sad. Daugther refused
the breast. On my suggestion that maybe the taste was different she
responded that her daugther took the milk from a cup and liked it.
Daugther was very persistent in refusal. After 2 weeks -mother kept
offering trying to be not too pushy- daugther had mumps. So, probably
this was causing pain that made nursing uncomfortable, added by the
sadness from the mother due to miscarriage made the nurse strike.

Mother kept offering, and a few days ago daugther took nipple in her
mouth but seemed to have forget how to nurse.
I suggested to show her by mimicing and by visiting other nursing baby's.
Now since friday the daugther ended in hospital having a surgery, bc she
had developed an absess due to the lumps. Just in time, before the
absess was bursted (that could have cause bloodpoisening).

Mother very very deeply want to restart the nursing relation, esp now the
possible traumatic experience of the presence in the hospital.
(Forunately they can stay with her all the time).

My question is: is it possible the daugther learns how to nurse again?
When yes, how? Has anyone have experience with restarting a nursing relation
after a couple of weeks with a 18 mo?

TIA, the mother should be very happy to get some suggestions!
