Kitty,

My first choice here is fungal, probably candida.  My suggestion would
be to treat her and the baby with Diflucan and gentian violet (see Dr.
Newman's handouts for directions)

My second, far less attractive, choice, would be Paget's disease of the
nipple.  The symptoms sound very suspicious, except it is rare for both
breasts to be involved.  Please read the information at:
