I think it's well worth the small additional charge the company
charges for insurance to cover pump loss.  After doing a prescribed
number of attempts to retrieve the pump, it is turned over to Medela
for them to follow up on and we get a replacement pump in a few
days.  Since the hospital where I (used to) work started renting a
couple years ago, we have had a handful of these situations which
made the small cost well worth it.  They do ask that you get either
a Social Security or Driver's Liscense number to help trace when the
renter has moved and left no forwarding address.
