Sharon:  I don't know of any studies, but Dr. Hale's book states
"Although no data exists on the secretion  of glyburide into breastmilk
others in this family are secreted in low levels.  The potential for
producing hypoglycemia in breastfeeding infants is real, but somewhat
remote.  Observe closely for low plasma glucose levels."  I would put my
two cents worth in.  Many people who have Type II (non-insulin-dependent)
diabetes, can control their sugars with diet, exercise and weight loss
alone.  I've been able to get  a significant number off glyburide and
such drugs with good compliance with lifestyle factors.  Also,
breastfeeding has been shown to reduce insulin requirements in
gestational diabetics, so possibly this mother's sugars may be in better
control while breastfeeding.  Possibly she may not need any glyburide, or
if she does she may need lower doses than previously.  Hope this helps.
