Here is the latest from my mom with all of the problems. She went to the OB
clinic at the military hospital, and was told that her mastitis is caused by
pumping. The doctor said that the pump is pushing the infection further back
into her breast! Her baby will not latch onto the breast at all now, so she
has to pump. This is one VERY determined lady!! She said that she told the
doctor that anyone with an ounce of common sense would know that the milk
cannot just sit there in her breasts! I am very concerned for this mom. I
have not received much response from all of you wise people out there. The
doctor did mention that they might hospitalize her and hook her up to IV
antibiotics. I think this would be fine if this mom indeed has mastitis, but
I am just not sure. Am I over-reacting? I feel with this mom's family
history of breast cancer, these weird clumps that keep coming out of her
breasts, the deep breast pain and the fact that the baby REFUSES to nurse =
specialist. I cannot get a doctor to see the seriousness of this. This mom
is contemplating ignoring all of the advice that she has been given by the
military hospital. I would like to see this mom continue to breastfeed, but
not at the cost of her own health. Can someone please help??
