Maybe they're a Canadian phenomenon, but I doubt it.  Moms are told by
M.D.'s and R.N.'s in the hospitals that the baby has protein spots.  They
are definitely related to inadequate intake and weight loss.  That is the
only time you see them, but only in the 1st couple of weeks.  As soon as
you get the baby eating they disappear, decreasing with even one or two
good feeds.
