Bingo!!! Too me, this really demonstrates the need for quality assurance
which, we know, if lacking in the endeavor of breastfeeding support. Quality
assurance in terms of followup with patients and retrospective analysis to
corroborate or refute whether the plans we put in place are carried out ,
work etc. I personally believe this is why many HCPs have given and continue
to give out bad advice. Their patients are "too scared" to challenge the
advice, don't use it but the HCP thinks they did and that it worked! When I
brought this up at a pedi office inservice recently it was met by a couple of
knowing "definitelys" and a couple of (light bulb goes off!) "AH HAs!
