After receiving permission to post, I posted several weeks ago about my
first experience with a galactocele, and the process the patient went
through to try and resolve it (FNA, then it came back, and then she used
cabbage leaf protocol to reduce the size of it). Currently it is about the
size of her thumb nail, and causes her no pain (down in size after Cabbage
use, and there was notable relief of pressure - but she has since stopped).
Her Hx before galactocele: She nursed for 7 years almost continuously with
two children, and had weaned very slowly. Breastfeeding had been stopped
for several months before this galactocele was noticed.

She wanted to know since it is insignificantly getting smaller, does she
need to go back in for a FNA again to "drain" it. Her doctor is "touchy
about any sort of breast "lump", even if it is milk" and told her if it
returns she should consider FNA again so she isn't at risk for greater
problems. He told her this after it was drained the first time,

So I am asking this list, with your infinite wisdom: What is the risk if
she doesn't do the FNA? Aren't their risks to doing the FNA (i.e. It coming
back again, infection)? Would you recommend any more cabbage? She isn't
afraid to do the FNA but would prefer not to if this may resolve on its own.

Please share your thoughts: What I have archived and researched on the topic
has suggested that occasionally repeated aspirations are necessary, but if
galactocele keeps coming back, surgery may be required.
