I was asked to set up a pump today for a 6 day postpartum patient,
readmitted to the hospital for high blood pressure and fluid on her lungs.
She is being discharged tomorrow. She was told that she must pump and dump
for 48 hours after last dose of Nipride. I didn't see it in Hale. Briggs
said no data available. I spoke with a pharmacist who was too quick to
sacrifice breastfeeding "Isn't it better to just dump the milk to be safe
since formula can be given?" I pointed out to her some risks of formula,
she said that was getting into the "theoretical realm". Any info on
breastfeeding after Nipride (sodium nitroprusside) would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
