We have the program here and I just got the skinny....the older dolls, which I'm sure are what the program by you has, only have a key that is inserted to simulate feeding, holding, diaper changing, etc. Therefore feeding issues can be brought up when baby care is discussed. The newer dolls ($350) are fancier and actually have a "patch" that is placed on the chest and the baby is brought up to it (magnets?) which simulates breastfeeding. The kids will be taking home the dolls for the first time here and I just spoke with the social worker handling it (who is pro-breastfeeding) and I will be visiting the group to discuss "feeding" and caring for baby. Since they haven't been taking the dolls home it has been a moot point.... Thanks for placing the bug in my ear.
By the way, studies have show just having the dolls does not work. An abstinence/self-esteem program also has to be incorporated into the program.

I just saw an article in our local school district newsletter on the new
"Baby think it over" program. I've seen this product in magazines...the
problem of course, is that the article was very specific that the kids
carried all the things they needed for carring for the baby, including
bottles, pacifyers, formula....AHRGGGGG as they say...of all the places to
promote bottle feeding...a young teens class on parenting. I had to
restrain myself from sending my post to the teacher in all CAPS, I was so
mad. Any of you know if this doll has any mention of breastfeeding in it's
program.....All you'd have to do is have it quietly cuddle whenever mother
held the baby.
