We don't allow the reps on the floor anymore, but they donated several
bags(same ones) to the nurses and our nurse clinicians had a drawing to
give them away. I won one! Ha! Of course, I declined and allowed my
disgust to show that we actually accepted these gifts. They are now
having 1hr ceu lunch and learn classes, about infant massage, etc.
Their way of getting into the hospital anyway. It so utterly
disgusting. Our nurse manager said we can pursue investigating the baby
friendly initiative but she can't guarantee anything. At least we can
get a start. I am soooooooo sick of seeing purple and green diaper bags
being carried around by the staff I could scream!( We purchased BF
canvas bags: Breastfed babies are Healthier babies and they still carry
the stupid formula bags!) We actually do have a nurse or two who does
not give a BF mom the abm bag but 9 times out of 10 she or her husband
come back enraged at why they didn't get one!

I have no idea how to fight this. I always sound like a sicko radical
to everyone.

Just had to share. Take care.

Sincerely,
Pam (Hendrix, RN, IBCLC, ICCE)
