Months ago when I heard about the health fair that was being planned at my
kids' school, I looked into whether they were in need of anymore
presentations and was told that they were all set. Well, I guess the person
who was going to do baby care, backed out and they asked me if I'd be
interested and I've accepted. I'm allotted 15 minutes and the kids will be
circulating in groups of 4 to 8 to all the different presenters. Of course,
we will discuss breastfeeding, but I've never done a class for kids before
and there are a few other subjects to cover on baby care in those 15
minutes, so I really want to cut to the chase and present what would most
likely make a difference for these kids to hear and what would most likely
interest them. My thoughts so far... I thought I'd start by asking them,
what is the best food for babies to eat? Then, I thought I'd go on to tell
them some of the important differences between formula and breastmilk. Does
anyone have any of the stats readily available regarding how many I.Q.
points higher kids score who have been breastfed than kids who haven't.
Also, what the stats say about how many fewer ear infections they suffer?
Specific stats on the obesity rates in those exclusively breastfed vs. their
counterparts and rates of allergies?

Does anyone have any suggestions about what works and what doesn't work with
kids in this age group? I'm also planning on talking about diaper changing,
swaddling, the back to sleep campaign and temperature taking. I'm also
going to talk about how to hold a baby and how to feed a bottle and burp a
baby, since some of them may have that opportunity with younger siblings or
if they babysit.

I'm nomail currently and don't know when I'll be signing back on to receive
my digests, so please send any suggestions to me, as well as the list.

Thanks,
Priscilla (recovering from jet lag, as well as family lag, after a visit to
my family in the southwest)
