Harvey said to Jay, and I listened in: "4) Regarding
swaddling - Let's just differ on that point for
now...and feel free to refer to me all your families
who deeply love their babies and but are exhausted and
sleep deprived and those whose babies persistently
cry."

How about if we tell parents what swaddling is good
for and let them decide? I swaddled my babies until
it no longer worked for them. It was different with
each of them, but when swaddling seemed to make them
*more* uncomfortable, I quit. My husband did it
longer than I did, probably in order to settle a baby
in a way differently than I did.

I think the reason many parents don't swaddle is those
darned carseats. As I learned with my first, you
can't safely install a swaddled baby into a carseat.
