I saw this in a newsletter I receive: - just some interesting trivia:

"Dr. Ernst Fehr of Zurich, Switzerland has released results of a study of
200 young men and their reaction to inhaling a nasal spray of oxytocin, a
brain protein. (June 2005) The study had subjects play a complex game as
investors using monetary credits they would hand over to a 3rd party
trustee.  The study found that those subjects who sniffed oxytocin were 45%
more likely to trust the 3rd party, compared to only 21% for those who did
not sniff the protein. The findings have implications for treating those who
have difficulty trusting others, such as people with social phobias or
autism. However researchers admitted that in the wrong hands such nasal
spray might be used negatively, to sway purchases or political voting
patterns.  Oxytocin nasal spray is already on the market as a prescription
drug for women who are breastfeeding."
