One of the cases of a client with frequent mastitis turned out to be caused
by stress. We had tried all of the usual interventions and remedies, but
nothing seemed to be working. She wondered if she would ever be able to
wean her baby without getting very sick.
Then one day she was talking about her husband and was surprised that I had
not heard about his heavy binge drinking. Apparently he became belligerent
when he drank, and this was naturally quite stressful for her and for their
children. Once she was able to move out, the episodes of mastitis stopped.
