Hello All !
I am excited to be back on Lactnet after being away! To re-introduce myself,
my name is Buffy (Chavez) Constant and I am a mother of Ben (4) and our
angel in heaven, Aiden. I am a CBE, doula, and received my BA in Health
Promotion from the University of Northern Iowa. I am now working at Covenant
Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa in The Women's Center and a special store
for pregnant, breastfeeding, and preemie families, as well as teaching
babysitting and sibling classes (yes, breastfeeding can become a wonderful
component of those classes...and such potential for planting a seed of the
breastfeeding spirit...) I hope to start teaching Lamaze and prenatal
classes in the near future.
Anyway, in response to the comments regarding patches and embroidery, I
found the same problem when I was trying to develop a logo for my new doula
business (which is not a raging success yet in the
slow-to-adopt-new-ideas-Midwest) My mother happens to be a professional
seamstress who can now (thanks to some new software) take a clip art,
sketch, picture, etc. and digitize it in order for her monogram machines to
read it and thus stitch it. So, for those of you out there who want this
done, talk to a professional embroidery business and they can digitize your
very own logo ! Also, in order to give myself the credit I worked so hard
for, I had my mother monogram my name and credentials on my lab coat as well
as "got breastmilk?" on the other side. I love the response I get from
people and I feel it is a good way to promote breastfeeding when I walk by
someone in the cafeteria, hallway, or when I am teaching a class.
