Jay, WHAT a horror show your poor friend is enduring with her twins! Well,
not with her twins - with her so-called HCPs at the hospital...

You write, after describing the OUTRAGEOUS and INEXCUSABLE things that were
done and said about the second twin's "care":
"I know it isn't that big a deal, but this inaccurate dispersal of
information realy pisses me off"

It IS a big deal. It's as big a deal as there is. So maybe the mom is
exhausted and grateful that the baby's alive and in that stage of thinking
"oh well, could be worse"; that's why it's so important for her to have
advocates like you. The parents shouldn't HAVE to be the ones to be
constantly vigilant as to what's being done to/with their baby at a time
like this - anyone and everyone who works in a hospital NICU should be
sufficiently educated aas to not pass out such pieces of misinformation!
Your story makes me so angry that I'll say here (rant, rant) that they
should be liable for malpractice for spreading such baloney (note polite
euphimism!). Yes, stressed babies drop their blood sugar, yes they need to
be fed, etc, etc.- but none of those medical facts give license for nurses
and doctors to dispense such crappy misinformation, nor to trample on the
expressed wishes of parents when there are NO reasonable medical
contraindications.

I seem to be getting so hot on this that I'm not able to be very
constructive or coherent. I'll stop. I assume that once your tongue heals
(poor soul! I know how you must feel!), you'll provide staff with
appropriate research studies re: the pertinent issues, for their
edification. If you need help finding the references, you know where to
turn!
