I hope this isn't too late but I attended a conference with Charles Bestin
(Hershey Medical Center- Hershey PA) who is the head of the AAP committee in
drugs and breastfeeding who basically said that all quinolones are ok. Drungs
in preganancy and lactation does say they are contraindicated but he was
quite adament that it is a theoretical risk that doesn;t really make sense.
However, why should mom have to wean? SHe should n't br on the antibiotic
more thatn a few days and she could pump and go back.
