I had a similar experience with my first child. I had a galactocele behind my left nipple. A physician did a needle biopsy to be sure that it was just a milk filled cyst. Afterwards, there was blood in my milk for at least a few days (I don't remember how long) and also an entire quadrant of my breast was caked and firm for a few days. I remember that my baby burped a lot more frequently when there was blood in the milk.

The bleeding and caked breast resolved and I definitely did not leak blood for the entire time I nursed. I am pretty sure that I had the galactocele for the entire time I nursed (10 years cumulatively).
