Where I live, a GST is coming into effect as of July 2000. There are
several exclusions from the GST particularly of "basic food items". One
such item being excuded is infant formula. I am thinking of writing to the
minister of health etc., to request that this be changed as it suggests
that formula feeding is an acceptable form of nourishing our young and that
formula feeding has a high cost with regards to the health of our children
etc.. Are there any policies being breached by the govt regarding infant
formula as a "basic food item".
Christine (Perth)
