I've seen more of this than I would like to, especially because it has, in
the 3 cases I've seen, led to insuffient milk production after the baby is
born.

I think it is due, at least in part, to a progesterone deficiency -- maybe
the mother has barely enough to sustain the pregnancy but not enough to
really stimulate breast development. I think another issue is an already
existing lack of glandular tissue -- what isn't there to begin with can't
get any bigger.

I've been reading everything I can get my hands on about this topic -- what
causes the lack of glandular tissue in the first place? Why are there so
many women with progesterone deficiencies (could it be environmental?)? I
think we as lactation support people are seeing so much more of this issue
because many of these women are getting.staying pregnant where before they
were not.

This is a topic of extreme interest for me so I am looking forward to
anything others have to contribute about their experiences!

Thanks,
Diana in NY
