The longest I have ever seen start breastfeeding after no
breastfeeding is 9 months. The baby would not latch on at first, the
mother pumped for a few weeks. The baby started allowing the breast
into her mouth, but by that time the mother no longer had milk. Even
at nine months the baby would take the breast in his mouth, so we gave
it a try. And she produced milk and was able to use the nursing
supplementer (also very surprising). I don't know how much milk the
mother ever produced because she used the supplementer, and the baby
was getting solids as well. But she definitely got milk from the
breast, that baby did, even without the supplementer.

I have in our clinic experience one mother who started at four months,
and another who started at 3, both quite successfully.

P.S. What is going on in North Dakota? There seems to be a flurry of
questions from out that way. Is it always the same person?
