I read Lactnet at the archives myself. In week 4 of March I didn't notice any such posts. In week 5 there were a few. They are usually caused by people using the 'reply' command when responding to a post in a particular digest, in which case the name and number of the digest come up in the subject line rather than the subject of the post to which they are responding. If the poster does not put any text in the subject line it is simply blank or 'no subject' and if you organize that week's archives by topic you can see how many of them come up with 'no subject'. At least one such post last week seems to have been sent inadvertently as there was no text in the post either.
This is a regular occurrence, and we have mentioned in the past that subject lines are a good idea, but that's all we can do. If you have received more than about 3 such posts in the last 10 days please *forward* one of them to us at the listmother address or let us know how many more than 3 you have received. We can try to figure out whether it has something to do with your settings.
The search function for the archives is not dependent on subject lines; posts are searched in their entirety for whatever key words you enter.
Not signing posts is usually an oversight as well - again, nothing the listmothers can do about it without a drastic increase in how much work it is to keep this list running, so we will let it go. If you can't figure out who posted something, send the post to the listmothers' address and ask us to help.
cheers
