Mother has history of fibromyalgia. Infant is 5 days old. Mother is complaining of very sore nipples and breast when nursing. Latch looks great. Nipples appear to be normal (no wear and tear). Mother states that nipples hurt when infant latches and then continues to hurt after the infant is done nursing. The nipples appear normal at the end of the feeding (no blanching). I was wondering if anyone else had worked with mothers who had fibromyalgia and felt more pain then 'normal'? Any ideas? We (she) has tried many positions. Laying back with infant on top of her seems to work a little bit better but still significant amount of pain. Mother also states pain feels more intense in the evening, night time hours.
